Bridgewater Water Treatment Plant - tank construction

  • Bridgewater

We are constructing two new clear water storage tanks and a new booster pump station at the Bridgewater Water Treatment Plant in Pondage Road.

Our crews will be working this weekend - 6 and 7 December - between 7am and 1pm to install pumps and pipework at the new booster pump station.

People who live near the plant site may notice vehicles accessing the site and some noise and dust as a result of the works – our contactors will work to keep this to a minimum.

When completed, these tanks will replace the current Inglewood Clear Water Storage Basin located north of Inglewood and make our water delivery to the area more reliable and efficient.

Please contact us on 1300 363 200 for further information.

Water meter maintenance - Huntly area

  • Huntly area

From Monday 15 December, our staff and contractors (S&R Engineering and Construction) will carry out maintenance checks on water meters in the Huntly area.

Work will take place on weekdays between 8.30am and 5.00pm and until late January.
Each visit may require a 5-10 minute water interruption.

No visits will occur between Monday 22 December 2025 and Friday 9 January 2026.

What is involved?

•    Crews will visit properties to service water meters.
•    You do not need to be home.
•    Our crews will knock first and advise you before briefly turning off your water.
•    Water will be restored as soon as the check is complete.

What if I’m not at home?

If you are not home, and no water is being used, the work will proceed.
If water use is detected, we will return at another time.

Water quality Maintenance may temporarily affect water appearance, such as air bubbles. If this happens, run your taps until clear. If issues persist, contact us. Your water remains safe to drink.

Echuca Water Tower repairs

  • Echuca

Update: Thursday 11 December

Work is continuing at the Echuca Water Tower since our last update to neighbours on 24 November 2025.

What to expect next

A structural assessment report indicates that the tower remains stable and is currently operating within its structural capacity, however there are signs of ongoing deterioration.

We have obtained external independent engineering advice to inform our approach to managing the tower.

We are currently working on a series of projects to ensure community safety and the continuity of water supply in Echuca. As a result, you may experience some minor variations in water pressure over the coming months.

The projects include:
•    Adopting new operating protocols including reducing the volume of water held in the tower.
•    Implementing new works and operational approaches across the network to ensure adequate water pressure.
•    Working closely with Campaspe Shire Council, CFA, SES, and Victoria Police.

The future of the Echuca Water Tower

It is likely that the tower may need to be demolished in the coming months. This is disappointing, given the history of the tower, however due to this assessment and the expected ongoing deterioration due to its age, we are prioritising and managing the tower’s potential long term safety risks.

We will continue to keep local residents, businesses, and the community up to date as our plans progress.

Further information about the current work is available at Interruptions | Coliban Water or you can call us on 1300 363 200.

We also have additional information and FAQs about Echuca Water Tower available at Echuca Water Tower | Connect Coliban

Thank you for your patience while this work is underway.

Update: Friday 21 November

Work is continuing at the Echuca Water Tower, with the following work to be completed in the next two to three weeks:

  • Patching and repairs to the rendered exterior.
  • Further structural assessments and surveying to guide longer-term repairs and maintenance.

We will evaluate the ongoing need for scaffolding based on the results of these assessments. We expect the scaffolding will be removed in the coming few months.

Safety signage, additional fencing, and the temporary footpath around the tower will remain in place.

There will be no interruption to your water supply, and we'll be making every effort to minimise noise and disruption.

Update: Friday 14 November

Today we will begin removing the shade cloth attached to the scaffolding at the Echuca Water Tower. There will be additional fencing and a temporary footpath around the tower for pedestrians use.

Additional safety signage is in place alerting the community to beware of any falling debris given the age of the tower.

Previous updates

We are carrying out further maintenance at the Echuca Water Tower.

As part of routine inspections last year, we identified loose material on the outside of the tower requiring removal and repair. Scaffolding has recently been erected around the tower so our team can safely carry out the required work. Temporary fencing remains in place for public safety.

We are working closely with Campaspe Shire and communicating regularly with those in the surrounding area.

There is no impact to Echuca's drinking water supply.

The tower plays a critical role, providing water pressure, via gravity, to the surrounding water network in Echuca. Repairs will be carried out carefully to ensure minimal change to the existing appearance of the tower.

First constructed in 1915, the water tower is a piece of historic infrastructure that requires continual inspections, maintenance and repairs as it ages. We inspect the tower every six months.

More history about the tower can be found here.
