Planned works at Kyneton Water Treatment Plant- Kyneton

  • Kyneton

We are planning to improve the water supply that we provide to customers in Kyneton, Malmsbury and Tylden.

To do this we are planning two stages of works:

  1. Installation of new bypass pipework
  2. Installation of new ultra-violet (UV) disinfection system

Stage one of the works will take place across the next month, starting next Wednesday 18 September. Works should conclude by the end of October at the latest.  We do not expect these works to interrupt customers’ drinking water supply.

Nearby residents who may notice noise and dust during works and an increase in traffic have been notified.

Water storage facility update – Tooboorac

  • Tooboorac

During October we will be adjusting the chlorination process at our Tooboorac water storage facility to improve the way we supply drinking water to this community.

Works will take place over a three-month period, and we don’t expect there will be a change to the look, taste or smell of your drinking water.

There will be no interruption to water supply and drinking water will remain safe to drink.

Cohuna Water Reclamation Plant - lagoon upgrades

  • Cohuna

We are planning important lagoon upgrades at our Cohuna Water Reclamation Plant, to increase capacity and keep pace with future population growth. This includes a new 15-hectare lagoon to be built south of our existing plant.

Construction is due to start in early 2025.

We are contacting those who live near the plant to share information about our plans. More on Connect Coliban here.

Echuca Water Tower repairs

  • Echuca

We are planning further maintenance work on Echuca Water Tower. As part of our routine inspections last year, we identified loose material on the outside of the tower, within the perimeter of the property, which requires removal and repair.

Temporary fencing has remained in place since this time to ensure safety, and scaffolding around the tower will also be established in due course.

We are working closely with Campaspe Shire and those in the immediate vicinity to ensure they’re aware of this update.

Echuca’s normal drinking water services are not affected.

There will be one planned lane closure in coming weeks whilst we construct a new foundation around the perimeter of the tank to support the proposed scaffolding system. This closure will only be in place for a few days, and dates will be confirmed shortly.

The tower provides water pressure to the surrounding water network in Echuca via gravity. It is a critical part of Echuca's water network.

First constructed in 1915, the water tower is a piece of historic infrastructure that requires continual inspections, maintenance and repairs as it ages. We inspect the tower every six months.

Any repairs or maintenance will also be carried out carefully to ensure there is no alteration to the existing appearance of the tower.

More history about the tower can be found here.
