Visitors to Barkers Creek Reservoir near Harcourt will be able use new toilet facilities that were completed this week.

Coliban Water Managing Director Damian Wells said the new toilet block will benefit locals, visitors and recreational users of the reservoir, thanks to funding from the Victorian Government.

“Barkers Creek Reservoir is a beautiful spot to visit for fishing, kayaking, hiking, walking, bird-watching or picnics. This new toilet block will further improve the amenity for anyone visiting,” Mr Wells said.

“Accessible temporary toilet facilities have been in place since December while this work was underway. Now complete, the new toilet block has three cubicles which include facilities for ambulant and disabled visitors.

“We expect this new facility to serve the community for many years to come.”

Mr Wells said the project had been funded via the Boosting Recreational Water Use Initiative (BRWUI), which is a Victorian Government initiative that aims to improve recreational water use at key locations around the state.

The BRWUI funding will also pay for installation of picnic tables and better walking tracks to link the car park and reservoir. These works are expected to be complete by the end of March.

The boat ramp has also been upgraded in recent months to provide better access for on-water recreation.

Shoreline fishing, kayaks, canoes and boats with electric motors are permitted at Barkers Creek Reservoir.
