  Maldon

We are aware that some customers in Maldon are experiencing white, milky or cloudy-looking water.

This was caused by air entering the water network due to a faulty valve at the water pump station. The faulty valve has now been replaced.

Our crews are systematically flushing water through the network to clear any remaining air. This work involves releasing water through nearby fire hydrants.

Your water remains safe to drink.

White or cloudy water can be caused by small air bubbles in the water. These bubbles are harmless.

To check if air is causing the cloudiness, fill a glass from your cold water tap and leave it to stand for a few minutes. If the water clears from the bottom up, the cloudiness was caused by air in the water.

In some cases, running your tap for a couple of minutes may help clear the issue.

While the source of the issue has been rectified, it may take a number of days for all remaining air to be removed from the network and for conditions to fully return to normal.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers for their patience while this work continues.
