A blocked sewer main has caused a sewer spill at McIvor Road, Strathdale, Bendigo. Wastewater has spilled into the stormwater drains and impacted the Harcourt Dog Park.
Our crews have repaired the fault and cleaned the area, but further testing is required before the park can be deemed fit for the public. Please keep an eye on the City of Greater Bendigo communications channels for the latest updates.
We have reported the overflow to the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria. Normal sewer services have not been impacted.
It is a good reminder that we all need to be mindful of what we flush down the toilet and tip down the drain.
Only flush pee, poo and toilet paper. Feminine hygiene products, wipes, tissues, and fats should NOT go down the drain – they create costly blockages like this one that has forced the closure of the dog park.
