Recent significant rainfall has placed increased pressure on our sewer network, resulting in sewer spills from the upstream gravity sewer network connected to the Jeffrey Street sewer pump station.
Spills have been identified at sewer access points along Campaspe Place and Beauchamp Street. Crews are actively responding to contain and clean up affected areas as quickly and safely as possible.
The spill at the Jeffrey Street sewer pump station remains contained within the holding basin and has not extended beyond the site.
Heavy rainfall can cause large volumes of stormwater to enter the sewer system, increasing flows and placing pressure on network capacity.
Our crews are using eduction trucks to help manage stormwater levels in the network and reduce the extent of spills. Customers may notice these trucks operating in the area during the event and as part of the clean-up response.
We are actively responding to contain spills and clean affected areas as quickly and safely as possible. We are continuing to monitor the network and assessing any impacts from the rainfall event.
We have notified the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) as required and continue to keep the community informed.
