We have commenced controlled releases of recycled water from the Bendigo Water Reclamation Plant into Bendigo Creek from 8am on Tuesday 11 August 2026.
Recent rainfall has increased inflows to the water reclamation plant, and our on-site lagoons are at capacity. The controlled releases of recycled water will help to make room in our lagoons to ensure the safe and ongoing operation of our plant.
The water being released from the plant is Class B recycled water and is regularly monitored to ensure it is safe for release. Signage has been placed along Bendigo Creek.
We carefully time these releases during high creek flows to minimise environmental impact and to ensure we do not contribute to downstream flooding.
We expect these releases to continue over the next 2 weeks. We’ll keep reviewing this based on weather conditions, passing flows, and inflows into the plant.
We are in contact with the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) regarding these releases.
