Water pressure in Axedale will be improved following a project to upgrade and relocate water pumps in the town.

Chief Officer Assets and Operations Danny McLean said the works will focus on Bluestone Rise Estate, however benefits will be felt across the entire town.

“We understand Bluestone Rise estate has experienced low water pressure for some time, particularly during periods of hot weather when there is increased demand on the network,” Mr McLean said.

Pressurised water is provided to customers in the Axedale network via a set of pumps. The project will involve upgrading and relocating the pumps, to improve pressure for the entire community.

“The design phase of this project is well underway, with the construction phase expected to commence in mid-September, weather pending,” he said.

Approximately 250 metres of new water main will also be constructed in both the road reserve and Coliban Water owned land, along Burns Street.

During the water main construction works, which are expected to take two to three weeks, customers along Burns Street, Drake Street, Millington Street and William Street may notice construction activities, increased heavy vehicle movement and increased noise levels.

“We anticipate there will be no impact to Axedale customers’ water service during the works, but during the commissioning phase customers may notice pressure fluctuations,” he said.

This is expected to take two weeks during the month of October 2022.

Axedale customers are encouraged to follow Coliban Water on Facebook and Twitter for project updates, or visit the Interruptions page on our website Coliban.com.au.
