Coliban Water fees and charges for the 2021/22 financial year will decrease from Thursday 1 July 2021.
Managing Director Damian Wells said the prices are the result of the current five-year pricing plan which Coliban Water submitted to the Essential Services Commission (ESC) in 2018.
“Our prices have been steady or decreasing for several years now. In regards to the upcoming pricing change, there will be no increase in fees and charges for the average residential customer’s annual water bill from 1 July this year.
“The ESC’s role as a water industry regulator is to review our price submission every five years to ensure pricing, service levels and works programs are justified, and costs and charges are fair,” said Mr Wells.
“We are funded by our customers and our fees and charges are in place to recover the costs of providing services, including investment in infrastructure, to provide a standard of service customers expect and value.
This is the fourth year of Coliban Water’s current Pricing Submission, which finishes on 30 June 2023.
Mr Wells said: “This means we are busy preparing our next five-year pricing plan for submission, which involves a range of engagement with our customers over the next 12 months.”
The next pricing submission period runs from 2023 to 2028, and will take into consideration climate resilience, water security and population growth.
“We will speak with people from all customer segments in the development of this next pricing submission.
“We are aware of growing interest in regional living. We want to make sure that we make the right investments in water services for our communities to thrive.
“These important considerations need to be made whilst maintaining high levels of service and complying within our regulatory obligations,” said Mr Wells.
As the new prices take effect, Coliban Water will continue to offer a range of support measures for those who may face payment difficulties.
“We are here to help our customers. If you have a short term or long term concern about your ability to pay your bill, please get in touch with us to discuss your options. Our staff are friendly, respectful and confidential.
“Our focus is customer affordability but our prices also have to reflect our investment in fit-for-purpose infrastructure to meet the challenges of climate change and growth.
