Bob Cameron will commence in the role as Chair of the Coliban Water Board from the 1 October 2021.
Lucy Roffey, who has led the organisation as Chair since 2017 will remain a Director of the Coliban Water Board.
Fellow Directors Nigel McGuckian and Marika McMahon were also re-appointed in their roles as Directors in the recent Victorian Government Board appointment process announced by the Minister for Water yesterday.
Ms Roffey chose not to seek re-appointment as Chair in order to find a greater balance in her portfolio, with her role as CEO of Central Goldfields Shire Council and as a Director at Homes Victoria.
During her time as Chair, Ms Roffey has driven the development and current implementation of Coliban Water’s Strategy 2030 - the organisations’ 10-year strategic plan to achieve the vision of Water to Live, Grow and Enjoy.
To deliver this strategic plan, Ms Roffey has overseen the transition of a new Managing Director to the organisation in 2019 and new Executive Leadership Team. In addition, the creation of new Board sub-committees to support the governance needed for the delivery of the Plan.
“I am proud of the work we have done in developing and the delivery to date of Strategy 2030. This Plan clearly articulates the position we want Coliban Water to have in our communities. Coliban Water is not just a provider of water and wastewater services – it is much more than that.
“Water underpins the prosperity and sustainability of our region. And I feel we are making real change; dealing with asset legacy issues, adapting to the challenges of climate change and working hard to set ourselves up for a more sustainable and customer centric future.
“I am looking forward to continuing this work with the leadership of Bob Cameron as Chair, which is a fantastic appointment for Coliban Water and the region we serve,” Ms Roffey said.
Managing Director Damian Wells said Ms Roffey had provided incredible support and leadership during her time as Chair.
“I have enjoyed a fantastic working relationship with Lucy since being appointed two years ago. Lucy has been incredibly supportive of the Executive and staff as we work to deliver sustainable water services and meet the challenges of climate change.
“It's great for the business that Lucy is remaining on our Board, as well as the re-appointment of Nigel and Marika; and I really look forward to working with Bob now in his new role as Chair. Bob has long been a champion for water security, sustainability and prosperity for our region,” Mr Wells said.
Mr Cameron said he was looking forward to the challenges the post-pandemic population boom will bring, and juggling that with the challenges of climate adaptation.
