Water Treatment

Water is treated at the Leitchville Water Treatment Plant.

The Water Treatment Process (PDF 43KB) includes coagulation and flocculation, clarification, micro filtration, and disinfection via UV and chlorination. Taste and odour compounds can be removed using Powdered activated carbon (PAC).

Sewage is treated at the Gunbower-Leitchville Water Reclamation Plant (WRP).

What happens at the water reclamation plant

The WRP uses a lagoon system to produce treated Class C recycled water. The system includes 2 facultative lagoons, a maturation lagoon, a winter storage lagoon and an irrigation system.

The treated water evaporates or is used for irrigation.
