Coliban Water is offering customers the chance to win $200 off their water bill and have their say on future water prices and investment.
Executive General Manager Strategy, Economics and Data Jarrah O’Shea said the online Bill Simulator is a way to capture customer sentiment about water prices in the lead up to Pricing Submission 2023.
“The feedback our customers give us will be used to influence our levels of pricing, service and investment between 2023 and 2028, so customers can have a real influence on the future of their water bills.
“We are faced with some important choices that have real bill impacts for customers. We face significant challenges due to the age of many of the assets, the growing population and decreases in runoff to water storages, that will all impact on future pricing,” Mr O’Shea said.
Participants can use a sliding bar to see how their choices impact theirs and others future bills.
“We know customers value fairness when it comes to prices. With the Bill Simulator, customers can have their say on how costs should be shared between current and future customers, and how much to invest in things like water supply, community initiatives, and supporting customers in genuine need,” he said.
Participants who complete the Bill Simulator will consider whether to pay more to reduce the likelihood of water restrictions or whether they are willing to pay the cost of upgrades to save money for future generations.
“Our region is facing a critical point in its water supply and demand. Our assets are aging, and our climate is getting drier. We need to prepare for this changing future.
“We’re 100 percent customer funded, so want our customers to help us decide how to balance these priorities and set water prices for the next five years,” he said.
The Bill Simulator takes less than 15 minutes to complete and is open until Friday 21 January 2022. It must be completed using a laptop or desktop computer.
