Coliban Water has published a new range of website pages about its catchment storages which make reservoir and water safety information easier to access for the community.

Executive General Manager Customer, Community and Stakeholder Affairs Lauren McLean said the new information available at coliban.com.au/about-us/our-reservoirs draws together details about Upper Coliban, Lauriston, Malmsbury and Barkers Creek reservoirs, as well as Lake Eppalock.

“We’ve made this information more user-friendly and have created a dedicated page for each water storage. These will show available facilities at each location, including disability access, sheltered seating, toilets, walking areas and on-water recreation rules.

“In addition, one of the most accessed pages on our website is the water storage levels at our reservoirs, especially after rainfall.

“The new website page has interactive data about reservoir levels, rainfall and storage releases which will be automatically updated each week day,” Ms McLean said.

Maps are available for some locations, to show site access and the website pages will have a notifications section to show any current closures.

Current restrictions have closed the playground and barbeque areas at Upper Coliban, Lauriston and Malmsbury reservoirs, and Malmsbury and Upper Coliban Reservoir are currently closed to on-water recreation as they are spilling. There is a risk to on-water users when a reservoir is spilling.

“We have invested in several upgrades to facilities in recent months, including a new toilet block at Barkers Creek, new sheltered seating at Upper Coliban and improved boat access at Lauriston.

“Once current restrictions end, and the weather starting to warm up, why not plan a visit to one of these beautiful locations,” Ms McLean said.
