Damian WellsDamian Wells will be the next Managing Director of Coliban Water.

Coliban Water Board Chairperson Lucy Roffey said the Board was delighted to announce its new Managing Director following an extensive recruitment process.

“The Board of Coliban Water had an exceptional field of candidates – several that could have led Coliban Water into the future,” Ms Roffey said.

“It was Damian’s depth of experience in aligned sectors working with regional and urban communities that made him a stand-out candidate to lead Coliban Water,” she said.

“Damian has extensive experience at CEO and Executive Director level within the water and environment sectors, and his track record in strategic leadership is a great fit for Coliban Water,” Ms Roffey said.

Damian Wells is well-known to the region as a former Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Catchment Management Authority, and in his current role as Executive Director - Regulatory Capability, Engagement & Legal at Environment with the Environment Protection Authority.

Ms Roffey said Mr Wells will commence in the role on 5 August 2019, and will be Managing Director of Coliban Water for five years.

“We look forward to Damian leading the implementation of Coliban Water’s Strategy 2030,” she said.

Mr Wells said he was both honored and humbled to have been appointed by the Board to lead Coliban Water in the provision of vital water services for the future growth and prosperity of the region.

“I am deeply committed to the region and our inspiring communities. My family calls the region home and we are grateful to be raising our children in such an amazing place,” Mr Wells said.

Mr Wells said he has a strong connection with Coliban Water’s vision of Water to Live, Grow and Enjoy.

“The Board of Coliban Water has highlighted climate adaptation as a key leadership focus for Coliban Water, and I look forward to working with the organisation, stakeholders and most importantly our customers and communities in supporting the growth and prosperity of the region to meet long term water needs,” Mr Wells said.

Ms Roffey said she wanted to acknowledge and thank Neville Pearce, Coliban Water’s Executive General Manager Service and Infrastructure for leading the organisation over past five months as Acting Managing Director. Mr Pearce will remain Acting Managing Director until 4 August 2019.

The recruitment of a new Managing Director for Coliban Water commenced following the departure of former Managing Director Jeff Rigby who commenced as Managing Director of Western Water in March 2019.

Coliban Water is one of Victoria’s larger regional urban water corporations.

The Corporation’s service region includes both urban and rural customers and includes 49 towns, extending from Cohuna and Echuca in the north to Kyneton and Trentham in the south. The western boundary includes Boort, Wedderburn, Bealiba and Dunolly and the eastern boundary Heathcote and Tooborac.
