Coliban Water announced today that allocations for the 2019/20 rural season will open at 100 per cent for all rural customers.
Manager Regional Liveability Steve Healy said the water storages were in a good position for winter inflows thanks to recent rainfall which had wet up the catchment area.
“This is good news, particularly after a dry summer and dry start to autumn. Over the weekend at Malmsbury we recorded 17mm of rainfall by Saturday morning and a further 27mm by Sunday morning.
“Our three catchment storages on the Coliban River near Kyneton are currently at 65 per cent, holding 45,646 megalitres,” Mr Healy said.
“Our annual inflow for 2018/19 was 26,382 megalitres, which is 2,291 megalitres less than our 20-year median and down from the 32,456 megalitres received for 2017/18.
“Rural water usage from our catchment storages last season was around 2,405 megalitres and the total annual usage for towns in our Coliban Southern system was around 3,230 megalitres.
Rural water deliveries are expected to start at the beginning of November depending on customer demand for water.
Rural customers will be sent further information via the post.
“Customer information packs will be posted prior to water deliveries starting, once channel rosters have been finalised,” Mr Healy said.
