Coliban Water has announced it will provide a $5000 grant to the Trentham community following the extreme weather event last week.
Staff will work with representatives from Trentham to determine which community project will receive the grant.
A precautionary ‘do not drink’ advice was issued to the residents of Trentham during the event, as extensive damage and loss of power caused access issues to the water treatment plant, and to locate and repair a burst water main.
The ‘do not drink’ advice for Trentham was issued in consultation with the Department of Health at 7pm on Thursday 10 June, and lifted at 6pm on Saturday 12 June.
Staff worked with the Emergency Relief Centre to door knock, provide information and distribute bottled water to residents.
Coliban Water recognises it has been a very challenging time for the Trentham community and the clean-up process is on-going.
We saw first-hand the resilience and determination of the Trentham community to re-open the town, and we appreciated the patience that was shown by the community whilst we worked to lift the ‘do not drink’ advice.
More details will become available once the grant has been awarded.
