The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria has charged Coliban Water with 11 alleged breaches of the Environmental Protection Act in relation to discharges from its Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant to the Campaspe River.
The charges relate to the operation of the Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant from July 2018 to August 2019 which has led to non-compliance with our EPA licence.
Managing Director Damian Wells said Coliban Water acknowledges the concern the release has caused and is focused on improving plant performance and protecting the Campaspe River.
“We have commenced upgrades at our Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant and we will bring the plant into a sustainable operating position.
“We respect the process and will work with the EPA as required,” he said.
Mr Wells said as the matter is now before the court no further comment will be made at this time.
