A burst on a 150mm water main on Mitchell Street, Bendigo, on Monday 14 January 2019 impacted supply to customers between Mollison Street and McLaren Street.

The burst was reported at 9am and our networks crew were onsite at 9.15am.

Customers in the area may have experienced no service or low water pressure until the burst section of main was isolated, restoring full service to all customers.

A two-metre section of water main needed to be replaced requiring road excavation. The water main was back in operation at around 8.30pm last night.

Our contractors have been working today to reinstate the groundworks around the water main and ensure the integrity of the road.

A temporary road surface is in place and we are working to arrange full reinstatement.

The cause of the burst has yet to be determined but it is expected to be a combination of ground movement and the age of the main, which is around 60 years old.
