Boil Water Advisory lifted for Guildford and Yapeen – water is safe to drink

The water in Guildford and Yapeen is safe to drink.

Coliban Water, following consultation with the Department of Health, advises customers that the Boil Water Advisory issued on Thursday 20 August is now lifted for Guildford and Yapeen. The water is safe to drink.

The Boil Water Advisory was issued after a burst water main alongside the creek off Midland Highway near Yapeen. This main supplies drinking water to Guildford and Yapeen.

The burst resulted in a supply interruption for Guildford and Yapeen customers and very low water pressure for others, which may have caused ingress into the system and compromised the safety of the drinking water.

The Advisory is now lifted after the repair of the burst water main and flushing of the supply system.

Water quality testing has confirmed the water supply is safe to drink.

We recommend customers flush their internal taps for two minutes to draw fresh water into their internal plumbing.

Customers will be advised via coliban.com.au/interruptions, SMS message, and social media.
