Community groups in Boort, Cohuna, Echuca, Gunbower, Heathcote and Lockington will have the opportunity to benefit from a series of $5,000 rebates as part of Coliban Water’s Customer and Community Rebates program.

Executive General Manager Customer and Stakeholder Experience, Lauren McLean, said the latest round of Community Rebates is being offered following a review of Coliban Water’s performance during the 2022/23 financial year.

“We know things like interruptions to our customers’ water supply, poor water pressure, other water quality issues, a Boil Water Advisory or sewer spill can be inconvenient – and not the standard of service we’ve committed to as a customer-funded organisation,” Ms McLean explained.

“Our Community Rebates are designed to provide the whole community with a financial benefit through support for community-directed projects. They are a tangible way for us to acknowledge there have been occasions when we have not meet customer expectations over the past 12 months.”

“We’ve been proud to support a range of local initiatives since the program’s inception in 2018. Past Community Rebates have allowed us to support projects ranging from new equipment for the Malmsbury CFA, rehabilitation of the Long Gully Creek near Bendigo, and a waterwise irrigation system for the kitchen garden at Kyneton Community House.”

“We know our communities are better places to live thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the much-needed programs offered by not-for-profit groups. We encourage as many community groups as possible to apply for this funding,” Ms McLean said.

The Community Rebates will be awarded following an expression of interest process. Applications close on Friday 1 September. Further information and details about how to apply can be found here.
