Wastewater

Where does my sewage go?

Wastewater from around 105 customers is treated at the Axedale Water Reclamation Plant, located adjacent to the Axedale Golf Course.

The sewer system in Axedale was constructed in 2005. It comprises eight kilometres of sewer mains and three pump stations.

What happens at the water reclamation plant?

The plant treats the sewage to Class B standard using a combination of aeration, clarification and disinfection. Reclaimed water is stored in a plastic-lined lagoon and used to irrigate the golf course.

The facility currently treats around 40 kilolitres per day or around 22 megalitres annually.

The site operates in accordance with a management plan approved by Environment Protection Authority (EPA) Victoria.

Water restrictions

Permanent Water Saving Rules (PWSR) apply.

PWSR are a set of five common sense water rules that are in place at all times when water restrictions are not in force.
