Reconciliation Action Plan

> What is a Reconciliation Action Plan?

A Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is a practical business plan for an organisation to move towards achieving reconciliation. The plan outlines an organisation’s commitments, actions and deliverables and organisations work with Reconciliation Australia on the development and approval of their plan.

> Why is it important for Coliban Water to have a Reconciliation Action Plan?

Our RAP is strengthening our relationships, our communities and our business, and informing our plans for the future. We recognise that the region we service across Central and Northern Victoria has a human history that began with Traditional Owner custodians. It is important that we acknowledge and respect the unique connection and history that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities have to the land, water and country we service.

> Our 'Reflect' Reconciliation Action Plan

Our 'Reflect' Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reaffirms our commitment to further develop relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. It acts as a guide for how we work towards achieving our goals of building relationships, nurturing respect and identifying opportunities to reduce social disadvantage.

Our plan highlights a number of opportunities including improving employment opportunities within the organisation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and businesses and increasing the cultural awareness of staff.
